FAIRFIELD
COUNTY SOUTH CAROLINA
EARLY
PLAT SERIES
These are copies of the
original plat series for Fairfield County, South Carolina. This is a joint project with the Fairfield
County Historical Museum and the Fairfield County Library. This is the entire Plat Series in the county
records. The records are from microfilm
rolls provided by the museum and library.
The index covers the entire plat series, so it should be used regardless
of which volume is being looked at.
The files are in .tif format and are best viewed in an imaging
application. This particular project is
based on IrFanView, available for free at:
If you install this
application, it will add it as a browser plug-in and will auto-invoke when you
click any of the below links. The images
are best viewed in 256 color to allow the widest range of grayscale. If you view it in 16 color, it comes out
dark.

Plat
Books
Please
note – quality varies between the plat books.
Some
pages in some volumes are extremely faded.
The scanned images are the best that could be obtained.
POST-1845
PLAT BOOKS
This
series of plat books covers the years 1845+.
They are in widely varying condition – from pristine to nearly
unreadable. Best quality is provided
where possible.
The
index is still in work – at the present, only the soundex
is provided.
These
are loading as I collate them, so links for volumes 1&2 work right now.
These
are the indexes for the post-1845 deeds.
PLEASE
NOTE: The page numbers on the FULL NAME
INDEX are NOT the
number
in the image file name!
Many
plats have multiple images in the data set.
The
original filmer and I took multiple copies at
different exposures
to
attempt to bring out all the text on poor / faded plats.
You
should be able to read most of the text by looking at all images at different
settings.
However,
this means that the 4th image in the volume data set is NOT
NECESSARILY
page #4
from the volume. This is a compromise to
get the best image quality overall.
The soundex tells you which page a surname is on in the Full
Name Index below
